Zilphia P. O’Halloran

FLEETON—Zilphia Pool O’Halloran, affectionately known as Zip, died on November 19, 2024.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband Blas F. O’Halloran, who died in March of 2004.

She is survived by her two daughters and their spouses, Jane Bowe (Girard) and Bonna Lewis (Randy); and two adored grandchildren and their spouses, Julia Lewis (William Biancalana) and Thomas Lewis (Anne).

Zip was born and raised in Greensboro, North Carolina. She graduated with a degree in music from the Women’s College in Greensboro, now UNCG, where later in life she served on the board of trustees. She was an excellent musician and enjoyed playing viola in several local orchestras for many years.

Zip and B.F. left Richmond and retired to Fleeton and never looked back. They were so happy on the water. Although the two of them travelled all over the world they always loved Fleeton best.

Zip leaves behind many faithful and kind friends, but she was especially grateful for the love, care and friendship of Lucille Cox. In lieu of flowers, Zip suggested donations to the Northumberland Rescue Squad.

As she requested, a private family graveside service was held at Hollywood Cemetery on November 30, where she was laid to rest next to her beloved husband.

Currie Funeral Home LLC of Kilmarnock handled the arrangements.
