The Johnson Loving Foundation contributes annually to a college-bound high school senior from either the Lancaster or Northumberland County golf teams.
Some 60 Indian Creek Yacht and Country Club members recently supported the foundation by playing in a scramble tournament, reported head golf pro Mike Mayer. The tournament raised $2,490 for scholarships.
Men’s division winners were Ed Roccella, Mike Petty, Bob Gillispie and Mac Conway with a score of 56.7. Second place went to Jim Purcell, Gil Zimmerman, Rick Saunders and Steve Edmonds with a score of 58.
The women’s division winners were Kathy Davidson, Carol Johnson, Kay Stout and Ruth Thomas with a net score of 58.3. Second place with a score of 61.1 went to Isabelle Bunch, Molly Gatchell, Seale George and Ellie Davis, with a score of 61.1. They placed second by a tie-breaker over Beth Kendrick, Kendall Minton, Beatrice Friebe and Barbara Maynard.
The highlight of the tournament was a hole-in-one scored by Kathy Rhodes on the second hole. It was her first ever hole-in-one. Playing with Kathy were pictured from left to right: Mary Bradshaw, Lynn Georgiadis, Rhodes and Carol Hanes.
