To celebrate the 50th anniversary of their graduation from Lancaster High School in Kilmarnock, the Class of 1967 recently gathered for two events. A cook-out was held June 9 on Natty Point Lane and a dinner was held June 10 at Indian Creek Yacht & Country Club.
Classmates came from all over the country, including Betty Tiggle-Harris from California, William Balderson from Kansas, Pat Conway from Tennessee and Adeline Dix Williams from Alabama.
Both events were smashing successes with much catching-up taking place, as well as the sharing of many memories and stories, reported Marvin Dameron. Mother nature also smiled on the cookout, providing excellent weather for the event.
Those who attended one or both were Jeanette Abbott Campbell; Marianne Abbott Jackson; William Balderson; Roy Barrack; Butch Benson; Steve Brown with wife, Margaret; Pat Conway with guest, Evelyn Johnson; James “Jim” Cutler; Marvin Dameron; Adeline Dix Williams with husband, George “Topper;” Billy Elswick; Larry Dunaway; and Susan Edmonds Whitlow with husband, Dave.
Also, Pat Lamberth Bruce with husband, William; Bonnie Lee Swisher with sister, Laura; Linda Lee Herring with husband, Ron; Linda Lewis Davis with husband, Wilson; Elizabeth “Liz” Miller Russell, Wilbur “Bill” Mitchell with wife ,Jane; Beverly Morgan Strickland with husband, Lew; Lewis “Lew” Rankin with wife, Shari; and Lloyd “Butch” Shelton with wife, Gloria.
Also, Janet Sheppard Schneider with husband, Ben; Sue Slate Donaldson with husband, Roger; Margaret Thomas Withers with husband, Al; Betty Tiggle-Harris; and Carolyn Webb with husband, Ken Rockwell.
Guests for both events were teacher David Reedy and Class of 1968 member Geneva Abbott Fisher with husband, Charles.
Those classmates who, for one reason or another, who were unable to attend were sorely missed, said Dameron.
