The Lancaster County Public School Division recently named Dr. Gordon and Mrs. Sheila Nelson as March Volunteers of the Month. They are tutors in the Volunteer Tutoring Program.
When the program began in the fall of 2014, the Nelsons joined the energetic team of volunteer tutors helping young students master math and reading skills and have continued to the present time, reported coordinator Sandy Armstrong.
They bring to the program 20 years of experience tutoring students in Richmond with the Micah Initiative, said Armstrong.
The Nelsons moved to Lancaster County 14 years ago from Richmond. They, like many others, were drawn here by the water. In their spare time, they enjoy gardening, boating and racing sailboats, she said…
