Lost and found

The Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office, in response to loose domestic pigs in the Ditchley area of Northumberland County, is searching for the owners of the livestock.

If these are your pigs, contact the Northumberland County Animal Control officer, 580-5221, before 5 p.m. January 11.

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against four individuals.

Felonies

Brian Keith Dawson, 46, of White Stone was charged December 17 with malicious wounding, strangulation resulting in wounding or injury,  abduction by force, intimidation or deception, three counts of assault on a family member, vandalism of a vehicle and destruction of property.

Erica Wiggins Jones, 33, of Lancaster was charged December 19 with damage a public building in excess of $1,000.

Donald Maurice Cottrell Jr., 46, Heathsville was charged December 20 with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Misdemeanors

A Lancaster  man, 20 was charged December 17 with violation of  community-based probation.

A Lancaster woman, 49, was charged December 19 with two counts of issuing a bad check.

A Weems, woman, 27, was charged December 20 with assault.

A Lancaster man, 25, was charged December 21 with failure to appear in court for a one-year review.

A Lancaster man, 31, was charged December 25 with contempt of court, fail to appear.

A Newport News man, 21, was charged December 26 with failure to appear in court on possession of a Schedule I or II narcotic and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, failure to appear in court, obstruction of a law enforcement officer in the performance of duties, driving while license is suspended or revoked-third or subsequent offense and reckless driving.

Activity Report

December 17: Staff responded to the 100 block of Windmill Point Road for a male on a four wheeler on the highway and possibly intoxicated, to a walk-in report of domestic assault, to the 3100 block of White Chapel Road for four wheelers riding on the sidewalk and trespassing on private property, to the 300 block of Woods Drive for larceny of a welder and sander, and to the 100 block of Chase Street to assist Kilmarnock Police Department (KPD) with a domestic disturbance.

December 18: Staff responded to the 2300 block of Windmill Point Road for theft of a generator, to the 300 block of Peake Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash, to the 100 block of Norwood Street for a verbal disagreement, to the 100 block of Brent Court for a trespasser, and to the 100 block of Courtney Road for suspicious activity.

December 19: Staff responded to the intersection of Weems Road and Gunther Lane for a single-vehicle traffic crash, to the 600 block of Rappahannock Drive for  an intoxicated female threatening suicide, to the 300 block of Woods Drive for a domestic disturbance, to the 10400 block of Jessie duPont Memorial Highway to assist Virginia State Police (VSP) with an intoxicated person, to Black Stump Road for suspicious activity involving several people and the firing of guns.

December 20: Staff responded to the 11000 block of River Road for threats against another involving a weapon, to a walk-in report of an assault that occurred at the 200 block of Old Fair Grounds Way, to the 200 block of Ring Farm Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash, to the 2100 block of Morattico Road for a report of child abuse, and to 2000 block of Old Salem Road for annoying phone calls.

December 21: Staff responded to the 200 block of Morattico Road for a two-vehicle traffic crash with injuries, and to the 300 block of Chesapeake Drive for a verbal dispute.

December 22: Staff responded to the intersection of Beach Road and Shady Lane to assist VSP with a traffic stop, to the 2500 block of Irvington Road for a verbal disagreement, to the 200 block of Clark Point Drive for  a trespasser, to the 100 block of Wishing Well Lane for vandalism of a vehicle, to the 800 block of White Chapel Road for trespassers, to Mary Ball and Fleets Bay roads for the brandishing of a firearm, and to the 600 block of Benson Road for a domestic disturbance.

December 23: Staff responded to the 100 block of Pembroke Lane for the theft of a dock box, to the 100 block of Joyful Way for a domestic disturbance involving a child custody issue, to the 300 block of Johns Neck Road for vandalism of a vehicle, to the 2000 block of Morattico Road for a domestic disturbance, and to the 5300 block of Morattico Road for a domestic disturbance involving alcohol.

December 24: Staff responded to the 1800 block of Windmill Point Road for a civil issue involving an automobile.

December 25: Staff responded to the 800 block of Lumberlost Road for an assault, to Windmill Point Road for a narcotics violation, to the 100 block of Courtney Road for suspicious activity, and to the 800 block of Crawfords Corner Road for trespassing.

December 26: Staff responded to the 300 block of Fleets Bay Road for a domestic fight in involving alcohol, to the 1100 block of James B. Jones Memorial Highway for a burglary and items taken from the residence, to the 11000 block of River Road for a domestic disturbance, and to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for a disabled vehicle blocking one lane of traffic.

December 27: Staff responded to the Norris Bridge for a reckless driver.

Staff also conducted 10 traffic stops, issued five summonses, assisted eight motorists, recorded five deer strike accidents, handled four calls for traffic control, investigated 13 building alarms, logged five inmate transports, received eight E911 hang-up calls and fielded six calls for animal control.

Lancaster fire calls

The Kilmarnock Volunteer Fire Department responded to a smell of propane on Atkins Lane, a traffic crash on Roseneath Avenue, a fire/smoke alarm on South Main Street and with White Stone VFD to a brush fire on Mary Ball Road.

White Stone VFD also responded to a fire/smoke alarm on Lancaster Drive.

Upper Lancaster VFD responded to a traffic crash on Merry Point Road and a fire/smoke alarm on Bailey Lane.

Lancaster EMS calls

December 16-29, the Kilmarnock-Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad, Upper Lancaster Volunteer Rescue Squad and Lancaster County Emergency Services responded to 80 calls for service, including 41 medical emergencies, eight injuries, six traffic accidents, three fires and 22 other calls.

Northumberland fire calls

For December 10-17, Callao VFD responded to three calls, including a fire, a gas spill and a motor vehicle crash

Fairfields VFD responded to three calls, including a controlled burn, a wires down and a motor vehicle crash.

Northumberland EMS calls

For December 10-17, Northumberland County Emergency Services, Callao Volunteer Rescue Squad, Mid-County Volunteer Rescue Squad and Northumberland County Volunteer Rescue Squad responded to 30 calls, including 21 medical calls, seven traumatic/fall calls and tqwo motor vehicle crashes.
