A grand re-opening was held Friday, July 20, to celebrate a new ownership at The Local, 4337 Irvington Road, Irvington.
The celebration included free drip coffee and a single scoop of ice cream as well as a raffle for a chance to win merchandise, gift cards and a sailing cruise. Julie Harris of Irvington won the sailing cruise.
New owners and Irvington residents Jack Geier and Anthony and Joanna Marchetti took ownership in mid-May. Ford Kirkmyer is serving as a manager.
“We wanted to be able to give back to the community,” said Anthony Marchetti.
“We just wanted to create the kind of establishment in the community to make the area a place where we want to live,” said Joanna Marchetti. “We want to enhance some of the things we already love about the area.”
The biggest change so far has been the aesthetics with fresh paints and different furniture; they also switched to Ironclad Coffee Roasters of Richmond and made adjustments to the menu.
“The menu is probably 70%-80% revamped,” she said…
