10 LHS wrestlers qualify for state meet

Lancaster will take 10 wrestlers to the Class 1 state championships after producing a Region 1A/B champion and finishing as the team runner-up at Mathews High School last Saturday.

The state championship matches are tomorrow and Saturday, February 15 and 16, at Salem Civic Center.

“We wrestled a great regional tournament, going back and forth from the first, second and third place spots through the whole tournament with Franklin and Riverheads,” said LHS coach Craig Oren. “In the finals, Riverheads began to run away with the tournament championship, but we continued to battle for second until our last couple finalists. Going into the 195 final match, we needed Adam Wilmore to not only win, but pin his opponent for us to pull past Franklin and he did. It was a very exciting way…
