11th SOWF tournament raises $148,000

On Wednesday, September 21, 30 teams of golfers participated in the 11th annual Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF) (www.SpecialOps.org) Chesapeake Bay Charity Golf Tournament at the Golden Eagle Golf Course, Irvington.

 Opening ceremonies included the Lancaster High School ROTC presentation of the Colors, Dr. Cheryl Brown Davis singing the national anthem, and a flyover by local resident Don Serio in his World War II PT-17. Gold Eagle golf pro Don Nelson instructed the teams on tournament rules.  

 Guest speaker, SOWF executive vice president, retired U.S. Air Force Col. Sean Corrigan, spoke eloquently about the SOWF mission and presented personal stories of young children who have lost a parent in U.S. Special Operations and how they are supported throughout their childhood and college….
