The annual Father John Boddie Memorial Golf Classic took place on Friday, June 4, at the Piankatank River Golf Club (PRGC) in Hartfield.
Hosted by the Catholic Church of The Visitation, Topping, this was the 13th in the series. Proceeds from the event are divided equally between the church’s building fund and several community-based charitable organizations, reported tournament spokesman Gary Richardson.
Pastor Gerry Kaggwa welcomed the 80 golfers and sent them out with a prayer that approaching thunderstorms would hold off until competition was over. Several hours later, they gathered in the clubhouse—just before the first heavy downpour….
