WAYNE, PA.—Simon Nicholas Edwards, 61, formerly of Weems, devoted husband, loving father and faithful friend, peacefully passed away on March 7, 2019, in Wayne, Pa.

He was born on August 6 in the UK to David and Catherine Edwards. Simon was raised in Cornwell Gardens, South Kensington, London. He attended Lycee Francais de Londre and later moved to the U.S. where he earned his bachelor’s in languages and French from Kenyon College. Simon spent a year abroad at the Paris-Sorbonne University.

He played for the first Cincinnati men’s soccer league, the Comets, which was part of the American Soccer League.

After college Simon became an advertising executive in New York City with a successful career at Ogilvy and Mather and the Franklin Mint. He later worked as vice president in finance at Smith Barney.

Simon’s favorite pastimes included soccer, golf and spending time outdoors.

He is survived by his adoring wife, Marie and their son, Lucas; his brothers, Thomas and Charles; and sisters, Sarah and Gabrielle.

He was predeceased by his parents, David and Catherine.

His most cherished time was spent with his son, teaching him his love of golf and soccer. Simon will be most remembered for his curious nature, competitive spirit, incredible British wit and love of life.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Melanoma Program, Abramson Cancer Center, 3535 Market Street, Suite 750, Philadelphia, PA 19104.

The family will receive guests for a memorial service at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 104 Louella Avenue in Wayne, Pa., at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2019, followed by a reception at Matador’s in Wayne. Internment will be private.
