Aubrey S. Stokes I, Terri D. Stokes

WICOMICO CHURCH—Aubrey S. Stokes I, 66, (May 13, 1959 – April 18, 2026) spent his childhood in Dunnsville, with his parents Aubrey H. Stokes and Jean S. Stokes, and his brothers David Stokes and Wade Stokes.

Terri D. Stokes, 66, (July 30, 1959 – August 21, 2025) grew up in Miskimon, with her parents Joseph W. Dodson and Alice H. Dodson, and her brother Joseph W. Dodson, Jr.

“Taddy” and Terri met by chance at a local gas station. She needed gas and he was working the pumps. It’s ironic to think their lives together started and ended with gas. They could have never imagined this life they created together.

As they started their life together they had the joy of Aubrey’s daughter Kristina S. Howard, before welcoming Tanya M. Stokes, Misty L. Stokes, Dana R. Stokes and Aubrey S. Stokes II to the family together. They were wonderful parents that would love you through anything, but what they loved most was being grandparents. A job they did not take lightly. In fact, it was probably their favorite job. Through 45 years together raising children and grandchildren and the many ups and downs, through it all they built a beautiful life.

Aubrey started off driving trucks for his father, then spent years driving trucks as a career before going into propane to be home more with his family. He continued in propane until opening his own business in 2011.

Terri raised many children throughout her life, not just her own. She babysat for over 20 years and loved all those children as her own, staying in contact with each one as they grew up. Eventually, she cared for their children.

After years of working, they decided to take a chance on themselves and started Stokes Propane Service. Together they leaped out on faith and grew the business to what you know today. They met many friends along the way. If they met you once, you were a friend to them. That’s just who they were. They were two of the best people you could meet and we were blessed to call them Mom and Dad.

Sunday, May 17, will be their 46th wedding anniversary, so we invite you join us at 2 p.m. on the 17th at Deitz Doves Rest Farm, 534 Old Tipers Road, Heathsville, to celebrate the beautiful life they shared.

We the family appreciate your continued prayers and support. Our community has been amazing through the loss of them both and we truly thank you.
