HEATHSVILLE—The Northumberland County Circuit Court convened for term day on Tuesday, April 28, with the Hon. John S. Martin presiding.

In the case of Kiwana Y. Garcia of Heathsville, charged with failure to notify local departments of changing circumstances to household income and failure to appear on a felony offense, Garcia was not found and the case was continued to July 28.

In the case of Daniel J. Banes of Richmond, charged with failure to appear on a felony offense, Banes was not found and the case was continued to July 28. Banes also faces five misdemeanor counts of revocation of pre-trial release.

In the case of Dere’Onta J. Redmond of Heathsville, charged with two counts of probation violation on a felony offense, Redmond was not found and the case was continued to July 28.

In the case of Robert P. McKenney of Hague, charged with probation violation on a felony offense, McKenney was not found and the case was continued to July 28.

In the case of Kevin R. Cunningham of Haynesville, charged with two counts of probation violation on a felony offense, Cunningham was not found and the case was continued to July 28.

In the case of Joshua B. Saddler of Heathsville, charged with probation violation on a felony offense, Saddler was not found and the case was continued to July 28.

Latrayven D. Rich of Warsaw pleaded guilty to distributing/selling Schedule I/II drugs for profit. Rich faces $555 in costs.

In the case of Robert N. Bibbens of Hague, charged with probation violation on a felony offense, a status hearing was set for July 28.

In the case of Charles L. Elmore of Warsaw, charged with probation violation on a felony offense, a status hearing was set for July 28.

In the case of Yasmeen I. Frazier of Tappahannock, charged with uttering/other forgery and obtaining money under false pretenses of more than $200, a trial was set for June 9.

In the case of Cassandra Tate of Montross, charged with probation violation on a felony offense, the charge was dismissed.

In the case of Donte S. Sutton of Lancaster, charged with probation violation on a felony offense, a status hearing was set for July 28.

In the case of Travis T. Hatton of Farnham, charged with grand larceny of more than $1,000, not personal property, the charge was nolle prossed. Hatton faces $1,163.20 in costs.

In the case of Desmond B. Wiggins of Lottsburg, charged with probation violation on a felony offense, the case was continued to June 29.

In the case of Desmond L. Lee of Farnham, charged with six counts of manufacturing/distributing Schedule I/II drugs, third or more offense, a trial was continued to June 16.

In the case of John J. Makowelski of Champlain, charged with intentional destruction of property valued at more than $1000 and grand larceny by unauthorized use of a vehicle, a trial was set for July 21.

In the case of Kemijah D. Thomas of Heathsville, charged with distributing/selling Schedule I/II drugs for profit, a status hearing was set for June 9.

In the case of Dwayne P. Walters of Heathsville, charged with four counts of manufacturing/distributing Schedule I/II drugs, third or more offense, a status hearing was set for June 9.

In the case of Sheila P. Henderson of Burgess, charged with obtaining money under false pretenses of more than $1,000, a trial was set for August 18.

In the case of Levaughn L. Seldon of Heathsville, charged with two counts of probation violation on a felony offense, the charges were dismissed.

Grand jury

A grand jury also convened April 28 and issued the following true bills of indictment:

• Monterra T. Cottrell of Heathsville was charged with possessing/transporting a weapon as a violent felon. A plea hearing was set for June 9.

• Lachoane A. Palmer of Heathsville was charged with three counts of tier three sex offender regulation violations, second offense. A plea hearing was set for June 9.

• Perry S. Slayton of Reedville was charged with assault on a law enforcement officer/department of corrections personnel and possession of a firearm at a school. A trial was set for August 18.

• Tavon R. Thompson of Heathsville was charged with distributing/selling Schedule I/II drugs for profit and two counts of possession of Schedule I/II drugs with intent to manufacture. A plea hearing was set for July 21.

Reminder, those charged with alleged crimes are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
