REEDVILLE—Patricia Anne Long-Twiford, of Reedville passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at the age of 88, surrounded by family.
Born on September 2, 1937, and raised in Marbury, Maryland, Patricia made her home in Reedville, following her marriage to Curtis Twiford in December 2000.
Patricia dedicated her professional career to service, working for the United States Navy at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Indian Head, Maryland. Yet it was her role as the heart of her family for which she will be most dearly remembered. Whether tending to aging loved ones in their final days or welcoming a sick grandchild with comfort and care, Patricia gave of herself without reservation. Her legendary holiday gatherings, where all were invited and no one left hungry, were a cherished tradition that brought family and friends together year after year around her table.
The daughter of Vincent and Gertrude Simmons, Patricia’s roots ran deep along the Chesapeake, with family ties to Hoopers Island, Maryland. Her love of the water came naturally, and upon arriving in Reedville she embraced her new home wholeheartedly, touring the waterways of the Northern Neck and sharing her passion for the region’s rich maritime heritage.
Patricia is survived by her devoted husband, Curtis Twiford, who stood by her side as her steadfast caregiver and source of strength through her final years. She is also survived by her sons, Dale Long (Colleen) and Gregory Long (Anna); and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 13, at Tibitha Church of God in Reedville. Visitation will be held from noon-1 p.m., followed by the service at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Roseland Cemetery. The family invites all in attendance to join them for light refreshments at the church following the burial.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial contributions to Hospice Support Services of the Northern Neck, Tibitha Church of God in Reedville, or a charity of your choice.
Patricia Anne Long-Twiford will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in eternal peace.
