LANCASTER—It took less than an hour for a jury on Thursday, June 4, to convict Steven Woodrow Self of attempted first-degree murder following a two-day trial in Lancaster County Circuit Court with the Hon. R. Michael McKenney presiding.
In addition to the two counts of attempted first degree murder, Self, 63, also was convicted of two counts of malicious shooting at an occupied vehicle and one count of using a firearm in the commission of a felony, first offense. The firearm charge carries a mandatory minimum of three years and the other four felony charges each carry penalties of two to ten years each. Sentencing is scheduled for August 10.
The charges stem from a November 26, 2025, shooting at the Weems home Self shared with wife, Rhonda. Zyhkeia Self, 26 weeks pregnant at the time of the shooting and married to Rhonda’s son Brandon Self, testified that following a family get together the night before Thanksgiving, she received a phone call from R. Self and could hear the couple arguing in….
