Local residents are named to state boards

Gov. Abigail Spanberger on Friday, June 26, announced several board appointments.

“Today, I am appointing Virginians who share my commitment to serving the people of the Commonwealth,” said Gov. Spanberger.

“Together, these leaders will strengthen our communities, enhance the essential public services Virginians count on and support our economy as they serve across our agriculture and forestry, public safety and homeland security, and finance boards,” she said. “I know they will bring the experience, vision and common dedication to building the safer, stronger and more affordable future that all Virginia families deserve.”

Local appointees included three members to the Virginia Marine Products Board. Nathan Everett of White Stone, owner of Still Kickin’ Seafood Inc., and Capt. James Kellum of Weems, captain of Kellum Maritime LLC, were appointed to the board. Nathaniel Bussells of Weems, quality assurance manager at W. Ellery Kellum Inc., was reappointed.

Kenneth S. Risser of Hartfield, interim president of the Central Virginia Poultry Cooperative, was reappointed to the Egg Board.
