WEEMS—In Loving Memory of Michael Ray Goodman. It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Ray Goodman, who peacefully passed away at his home in Weems, on July 20, 2026, at the age of 81, surrounded by the love of his family.
Michael lived a life defined by love, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to the people who meant the most to him. He will be remembered not only for the life he lived, but for the countless lives he touched through his wisdom, compassion, and caring heart.
Michael was born in New Castle, Indiana, to Earl F. Goodman and Ida Mae Goodman, where he spent his childhood alongside his sisters, Sharon and Patricia. It was there that he developed the strong values, work ethic, and devotion to others that would guide him throughout his life.
Michael dedicated 39 years of his career to City Machine in Muncie, Indiana, where he retired as the company’s chief financial officer. He was also a proud lifetime member of the Lions Club, serving his community for more than 35 years.
After retiring, Michael and Grace relocated to Kilmarnock, to be closer to their grandchildren, beginning a chapter of life that brought him immeasurable happiness. During that time, Michael became a school bus driver for Lancaster Schools, a role that allowed him to transport students to sporting events and school activities while spending more time with his grandchildren. Whether he was behind the wheel or cheering from the stands, Michael treasured every opportunity to support them and be part of the moments that mattered most. In their later years, Michael and Grace made their home in nearby Weems.
Michael’s greatest joy was the life he built with his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Grace Goodman. Together they shared 61 wonderful years of marriage, building a life filled with love, devotion, and lasting memories.
Together, they raised two children, Todd and Christy. Michael was a devoted husband, a loving father, and the steady foundation of his family. One of his most cherished traditions was making breakfast for his family, a simple act that became a lasting expression of his love. One of his proudest family memories was celebrating his and Grace’s 50th wedding anniversary by bringing their children and grandchildren together on a Caribbean cruise, creating memories that will be treasured.
Michael took tremendous pride in the lives and accomplishments of his grandchildren. He closely followed the careers of his grandsons, Tanner and Evan, as they became commercial airline pilots, and proudly supported his granddaughter, Amanda, who attends Georgetown Medical School as she works toward her dream of becoming a physician. Their accomplishments brought him immense joy, and nothing made him prouder than watching each of them succeed.
Michael is survived by his wife, Grace Goodman; his son, Todd Goodman (Ryan Pinsch); his daughter, Christy Steensma (Richard); his beloved grandchildren, Tanner Steensma (Tyla), Evan Steensma and Amanda Steensma.
He also leaves behind his dear friends, Michael and Alma Fagan, whose friendship brought great joy and companionship throughout the years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl F. Goodman and Ida Mae Goodman; and his sisters, Sharon Scott and Patricia Smith.
Honoring Michael’s wishes, the family will not be holding a funeral or memorial service.

Michael’s greatest legacy will not be found in the positions he held or the years he worked, but in the family he loved so deeply. His love, wisdom, support, and the values he instilled will continue to live on through Grace, his children, his grandchildren, and the countless memories they will forever cherish. His life was a reminder that the greatest gift we can give is simply being present for those we love.
