
The Northern Neck History Fair recently celebrated its 25th year with an awards presentation at Historic Christ Church & Museum. Since 2002, the Foundation for Historic Christ Church (FHCC) has hosted this annual competition.
Typically, local elementary students enter the contest by creating projects on an event, person or cultural development related to Virginia from 1607-1789, a period that is part of the Virginia studies curriculum, reported executive director Robert Teagle. However, this year, in honor of America’s semiquincentennial, students created projects related to Virginia in the American Revolution.
Chesapeake Bank, Connemara Corporation and Anna’s Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria of Kilmarnock helped sponsor the event, which was also supported by a grant from The Nettie Lokey Wiley and Charles L. Wiley Foundation.
