Patricia Ann Garrett

IRVINGTON—Patricia Ann Garrett, 74, of Irvington passed away peacefully on August 3, 2026.

Born on April 2, 1952, in North Carolina, Pat relocated to Richmond as a child, where she built a life centered around family, friendship and caring for others.

She dedicated more than 30 years to a meaningful career in healthcare, specializing in respiratory therapy, cardiac care and patient advocacy. Caring for others was not just her profession—it was who she was at her core.

A proud graduate of Manchester High School, Class of 1970, Pat carried her vibrant personality and generous spirit throughout her life. She had a natural ability to connect with people and could easily start a conversation with anyone, leaving them feeling seen and valued. She was a true fighter, facing life’s challenges with resilience and grace and she was fiercely passionate about her family.

Pat found joy in the simple pleasures—her love for classic cars, days at the beach, and most of all, the relationships she cherished deeply. She was a devoted and loyal friend, especially to her lifelong group of friends known as “The Yaya’s,” who had been by her side since middle school. Their friendship was a constant source of joy, comfort and love throughout her life.

She is survived by her devoted and deeply loving husband, Robert L. Garrett; her daughters, Erika “Star” Lopez (Andy Lopez) and Dawn M. Jacobi; her beloved granddaughters, Kylie, Audrey and Evelyn “Evie” Lopez; her stepson, T. Evan Stells; his daughters, Maeve and Vera Stells; and her brother, James E. “Jimmy” Deaver Jr. (Ann Deaver).

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin “Timmy” Stells (1998); and her parents, Joyce Ann (Worrell) Samuels and James Earl Deaver.

Pat will be remembered for her warm heart, her strength, her gift for conversation and the way she made everyone feel like family. Her legacy of love and compassion will live on in all who knew her.

A service to celebrate Pat’s life will be held at noon on September 12 at Bon Air Christian Church, 2071 Buford Road, North Chesterfield, VA 23235.
