Convocation at Chesapeake Academy in Irvington brings the school community together to launch the school united behind a specific focus or theme to guide all facets of the school community throughout the year.
The theme for the 2026-27 session departs from previous themes of curiosity, integrity, connection, perseverance, empathy, kindness and trust by engendering a state of doing rather than a state of being. Head of School Catherine L. Emery welcomed students with a challenge to live into the theme, which is “Cultivate What’s Ours,” with a focus on cultivating personal identity, distinguishing that sense of self from aspirations and the roles each play…..
