Lady Devils build momentum and confidence in volleyball

The Lady Devils brought back the bling from a trip to southwest Virginia last weekend, where they went 4-1 to win the Auburn Invitational in varsity volleyball.

Lancaster beat George Wythe, 2-0, Northwood, 2-0, Rappahannock, 2-1, and host Auburn, 2-1, on Saturday, September 12, to cap the week with five wins and a loss. The lady Devils swept Northampton on Tuesday, September 8, to improve to 9-2. The one tournament loss came to Chilhowie, 2-1.
Coach Ramey Childress brings back all of his starters from last year and despite only having one senior, his team is well-seasoned with nine juniors, most of whom have been on the team for two years and already have state tournament experience.
Leading the returners is junior front row hitter Lexi VerMeer, who is already a Division 1 verbal commit to the University of Iowa. She had an impressive 64 kills on Saturday in….
