Norris Bridge a maze of traffic controls

FREDERICKSBURG—Work zone hours have been extended for spot structural steel repairs under way on the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge.

From 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays, Route 3 will be reduced to a single lane for approximately a mile over the Rappahannock River, reported Kelly Hannon. Work is anticipated to continue through November 2017.

During these times drivers will encounter one-way, alternating traffic on the bridge. Traffic will be controlled by automatic flagging stations and flagging crews, said Hannon. When the steel repair work zone is in place, temporary traffic signals on the bridge will be placed in flash mode.
