Ora N. Fisher

WEEMS—Ora Nickens Fisher died December 15, 2017, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Richmond.

She was born April 20, 1931, to the late Clarence and Bernice Nickens.

She was educated in Lancaster County schools and was a member of Willie Chapel Baptist Church and later Sharon Baptist Church. At Sharon she helped organize the Senior Camp Program, worked with youth ministry, vacation Bible school and summer youth camps.

Mrs. Fisher did domestic work from her home, worked as a seamstress assistant at Dolf in White Stone and in catering and housekeeping at Rappahannock River Yacht Club. She also volunteered for many years at the Lancashire Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center.

She is survived by her husband, Arnold Fisher; her children, Janice Fisher, Veronica Sewell, Michael Fisher, Dwight Fisher and Annette Lomax; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Napper and Rita Howard; and brothers, John Nickens and Larry Nickens.

A funeral was held December 21 at Sharon Baptist Church, Weems. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
