The Virginia High School League recently released the Group 1 girls basketball all state team.
Appomattox Regional Governor’s School (ARGS) junior forward Jada Boyd was selected the player of the year and Parry McCluer’s Adam Gilbert was named coach of the year. Parry McCluer’s Fighting Blues won its second straight state title last week.
Eight players were chosen to the first team and eight to the second. Only players named to the all-region teams are eligible for selection to the all-state team.
Lancaster High School, which advanced to the Group 1 quarterfinals, had one second team selection in junior Skylar Sawyer. She was the only player from the Northern Neck District to receive state honors…
