LANCASTER—A resident fearing budget cuts in emergency services could put her husband’s life at risk and that of other Lancaster residents, took her concerns to the board of supervisors last week. Her comments resulted in quick action by the county to address the issue.
Laura Stoddard told supervisors medics recently saved her husband’s life despite two other emergency calls that came in before hers because the county had three emergency units running. The third unit was available to respond quickly to her call for help.
However, she said recently became aware of chief of emergency services Terry McGregor’s response to the board’s call for departmental budget cuts that resulted in McGregor’s February memo announcing the elimination of one advance life support unit during the day…
