Red Devils split in soccer matches

Lancaster avenged an earlier loss to Essex last Friday with a 3-0 win over the Trojans in boys soccer.

The win lifted Lancaster to second place in the Northern Neck District. Rappahannock is in first and Northumberland third.

The Red Devils will play the Indians for a second time in the final regular season match at 5:30 p.m. Friday, May 11, at LHS. A loss could flip-flop Lancaster’s and Northumberland’s seedings in next week’s Northern Neck District tournament; however, no matter which team finishes second or third, the two rivals will play in a semifinal game at Rappahannock on Wednesday, May 16.

Last week’s physical outing against Essex included six yellow cards and two red cards with LHS receiving two yellows and one red. The Devils scored two of their three goals on penalty kicks…
