Lancaster High School held its end-of-year athletic picnic last Wednesday. Student-athletes on all junior varsity and varsity teams were recognized. Additionally, two team trophies were awarded for each varsity sport. The recipients were selected by their coaches.
Fall sports
Martez Davis was named the defensive player of the year and Calvin “Charlie” Henderson the offensive player of the year for varsity football.
Cross country coaches chose Leanne Nguyen and Domonique Veney as most valuable players (MVPs) of the girls and boys teams, respectively. De’Avion Harding was named the rookie of the year.
Maddie Davis was named the MVP on the varsity volleyball team and Frannie Wilson was given the leadership award.
For golf, Sheridan Ford was named the team’s MVP, while Jacob Hudnall received the coach’s award.
Winter sports
Skylar Sawyer and Skyler Henderson were named co-MVPs of the girls basketball team, while Davis was named the offensive player of the year and C. Henderson the defensive player of the year for boys basketball…
