Norris Bridge paving project is complete

All travel lanes are open on the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge as construction to mill and pave the bridge deck with a layer of water-resistant asphalt is complete.

Construction began July 5, and project contractor Allan Myers finished work two months ahead of the completion date of November 1, 2018, to restore travel lanes by the Labor Day holiday travel period. The $5.4 million project was funded with state maintenance funds, reported Kelly Hannon of the Virginia Department of Transportation.

The Norris Bridge carries Route 3 traffic over the Rappahannock River between Lancaster and Middlesex counties.

Drivers will notice a smoother riding surface and fresh pavement markings…
