Some 120 pickleball players, representing 88 teams, visited Kilmarnock November 8-10 to participate in the ninth annual Shamrock Pickleball Tournament.
“The Shamrock” hosts players from as far away as Longwood, Fla., and Berlin, Md., according to tournament director Mickey Kendrick. Others came from Rockwood Park in Chesterfield County, Charlottesville, Lynchburg and Arlington County.
The Northern Neck Family YMCA, together with the Indian Creek Yacht and Country Club, hosted the event. The tournament raised $4,500 for the YMCA Guardian Program, exceeding the $2,500 raised in 2017, reported YMCA executive director Mark Favazza.
