Northumberland High School graduates 111

Be true to yourself was the general theme of speakers at Northumberland High School’s commencement last Saturday morning in Claraville.

Northumberland graduated 111 seniors in the Class of 2019. Leading the class were valedictorian Zoie Sadler and salutatorian Nathan Parker.

The nearly two-hour long ceremony included multiple speakers, recognition of the honor graduates as well as a special farewell to two retiring teachers.

NHS principal Dr. Travis Burns opened with a big congratulations for the class’s many accomplishments. According to Dr. Burns, NHS will have 55 graduates attend four-year institutions, 29 attend a two-year college, 10 join the military and 17 enter the workforce. Five graduates have already received their associates’ from Rappahannock Community College.

This class has also earned over $1.1 million in scholarships, a new school record.
