Lancaster school board approves adjustments to preschool program

LANCASTER—The Lancaster school board on Thursday, August 1, adopted changes to the preschool program for the upcoming school year.

Original plans called for two 3-year-old classes and two 4-year-old classes. However, superintendent Dan Russell recommended the district adopt qualifying criteria for the 3-year-old-program that matches the state’s Virginia Preschool Initiative. This is to prevent 3-year-olds from completing a year of preschool and then not being able to qualify for the 4-year-old program.
