Thomas W.  “Boilermaker” Cockrell

HEATHSVILLE—Thomas W.  “Boilermaker” Cockrell, 79, of Heathsville  passed away on January 2, 2020. He grew up in Sampsons Wharf and Glebe Point and lived in the area all of his life.

He is survived by his children, Dale Cockrell, David Cockrell and Dawn Cockrell; grandchildren, Krissy, Jonathan, Talon, Blake, Hayley, Tyler, William, Bailey, Wyatt, Wesley and Joseph; and great-grandchildren, Mason, Olivia, Brynn, Bryce, Sebastian, Julian, Jaxson and Juniper.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marguerite and Stanley Cockrell; and brothers, Leon Cockrell and Bobby Cockrell.

Thomas “Boilermaker” was a founding member of Burlington Hunt Club and retired Boilermaker with Local 45 in Richmond. He loved fishing, hunting, his truck and his family. We will miss him deeply. 

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 5, at Currie Funeral Home, Kilmarnock. Interment took place after the service at Wicomico Baptist Church Cemetery. Family received friends from 4-6 p.m. Saturday, January 4, at the funeral home.
