Black history celebration slated for Sunday at NHS auditorium

A black history celebration, sponsored by the Northumberland Public Library, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 23, at the Northumberland High School auditorium, 201 Academic Lane, Claraville.

For years on a Sunday in February, people packed themselves between the stacks at the Northumberland Public Library to be a part of a community black history celebration. There was singing, recitation, reenactments and dancing on a small part of the carpet opened up by moving the library’s reading tables.
