15-month bridge project near Saluda will begin this week

FREDERICKSBURG—Beginning Friday, May 1, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will begin work to rehabilitate the Route 17 southbound bridge over Dragon Run at the Middlesex and Gloucester county line.

The $4.1 million project is funded by the State of Good Repair program, which seeks to improve the condition of structurally deficient bridges in Virginia.

The project will install a slightly wider bridge deck and new steel beams under the existing structure…
