William “Ray” Davenport Jr.

WHITE STONE—William “Ray” Davenport Jr. died peacefully in his sleep on Friday, May 15, 2020, at his home in White Stone.

Ray was born on May 12, 1943, in his family home of Lara to William and Alice Maith Davenport. He married in December of 1967 to Catherine Winegar of Ocran. The couple had one son. He was best known as the owner of Dymer Creek Seafood since the early 1980s.

Ray is survived by his wife, Cathy; their son, Bill (Lauren); his granddaughters, Alexandra and Victoria; nephew, Mark Davenport (Olga); and his many loyal fish customers.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Alice; his brother, Meade, wife, Mollie, and nephew, Brian Davenport.

A celebration of his life will be at a later date.

Those wishing to honor his life may make a donation in his name to St. Jude’s or the White Stone Volunteer Fire Department.

Currie Funeral Home LLC of Kilmarnock handled the arrangements.
