Planning commission incorporates $68 million for school construction in proposed capital improvement plan

LANCASTER—The planning commission on Thursday, June 18, voted 6-0 to recommend amending the county’s proposed capital improvement plan for 2021-25 and holding a related public hearing July 16. Robert Smart, Glen Pinn, Tara Booth, Tom Richardson, Ty Brent and Steve Sorenson voted to approve the measure. David Chupp was absent.

The amendment came on the heels of a request from school superintendent Dan Russell to include two projects: a $13.1 million middle school renovation to house grades K-6 and a $55.3 million construction project for grades 7-12.
