Public mum on Kilmarnock’s proposed $4.8 million budget

KILMARNOCK—Members of the public did not comment on the Town of Kilmarnock’s proposed $4,892,523 budget for the 2020-21 fiscal year during a related hearing Monday, June 22.

The proposal represents a decrease in town spending of $7,152, or 0.14%. According to town administrator Susan Cockrell, the town government has minimized expenses for the next fiscal year due to concerns related to the impact of the COVID-19 virus pandemic on local tax receipts.

“We have taken a fiscally conservative approach,” said Cockrell.
