What does it take to run a polling place?

Participating in elections is one of the key freedoms of American life. Many people in countries around the world do not have the same freedom, nor did many Americans in centuries past. No matter what you believe or whom you support, it is important to exercise your rights. But let’s face it: without poll workers, election day could not operate as it does. They are the backbone of our precincts.

Recruiting poll workers is an ongoing challenge for us. With the COVID-19 pandemic, it is even harder for us to find people willing to work the polls. 

Here in Lancaster County, we need approximately 5-6 people at each precinct to help work on election day. In a presidential election, that number goes up…
