Registration continues for 25th Hospice Turkey Shoot Regatta

The Hospice Turkey Shoot Regatta will be a pursuit race October 3 off Carter Creek on the Rappahannock River.

This, the 25th or silver anniversary of the fall Hospice regatta begun by John McConnico and Chuck Varney, is one of the largest sail races on the southern Chesapeake Bay. It is also a fun way to do some fundraising for the Hospice Support Services of the Northern Neck and Riverside Hospice in the Middle Peninsula. 

The annual event with 100 or more wooden and fiberglass monohulls has helped raise approximately $40,000 each time for Hospice, said regatta publicist Tom Wicks. However, with fewer related fundraising activities leading to this year’s race, organizers may fall may fall short of that goal.
