Harding’s Math Rockstars excel in online competition

Lancaster Primary School second and third graders recently were introduced to an online math game called Prodigy. This game encourages students to compete in mathematical “battles,” using an avatar they create while answering math problems based on Virginia Standards of Learning. 

Many LPS teachers encourage students to enjoy this educational game in their free time, and some teachers promote class-wide participation in Prodigy to compete in annual tournaments. The tournament awards points based on overall questions answered per student and accuracy of each class who registers. The fall tournament ran from October 5-23, and included an overall grand prize winner at the end, as well as weekly highest accuracy of correct answers.
