NHS to send seven athletes to statewide indoor track contest

Northumberland High School’s indoor track team has secured a couple of top regional rankings to head into next week’s state competition.

Northumberland will send seven individuals to compete in a Class 1/2 combined state meet Wednesday, March 3 at Liberty University. Region 1A/2A did not hold a regional meet this year but will instead send the top three ranked individuals in each event.

With pandemic concerns forcing several schools not to participate in indoor track, the Region 1A/2A event would have included Northumberland, Mathews, Charles City, Bruton and Poquoson.
