HEATHSVILLE—Kenneth D. Kirk Jr. of Heathsville passed away on March 17, 2021, at the age of 54.
Ken was born in Lincoln, Illinois, on August 28, 1966, to parents, Kenneth and Martha. As a child, he learned to work on cars from his father. He helped his father on the job doing construction.
He was a man of many traits and a huge heart. He was very passionate about everything he did.
He enlisted into the Army in 1984 and was in the 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, in 1986. He left the Army in 1988. After that, he joined the Marine Corps as an infantryman in 1990 and went on to become a Marine Sniper in 1992 with five combat tours. At the end of his career as a Marine, he was an instructor at the Mount Warfare Training Center.
He retired in 2007. He was a brave and loyal soldier who loved his country. He married the love of his life, Angie, on August 10, 1995.
He and his wife enjoyed fishing and being on the water. He also had a passion for cars, hunting and riding his motorcycle.
He is survived by his wife, Angie:; his son, Austin; his daughter, Chelsee; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 23, at Currie Funeral Home, Kilmarnock. Interment will be in Mooreland Cemetery, Heathsville. The family received friends from noon to 2 p.m.
