Construction of Habitat home progresses

KILMARNOCK—Lancaster/Northumberland Habitat for Humanity (L/NHH) executive director Tommy Hemans recently announced another successful partnership with a local family in need of affordable housing.

“Our newest family has been selected as the new homeowners of Build 21,” said Hemans. The new homeowner has two children, ages three and nine. 

A first-time homeowner, she is anticipating seeing her kids’ faces when they open the door to their home for the very first time, and regularly drives past the property to check on the progress. 

According to L/NHH public relations chairman Lucia Schoelwer, the homeowner said she decided to apply for home ownership with Habitat because she “knew it was meant for me, so I made it my focus. I submitted my application on the first day applications were being accepted. I prayed every day….
