September 30 genealogy lecture to focus on finding Virginia records

The Lancaster Virginia Historical Society’s (LVHS) Genealogy Research Topics, Tools, and Tips Lecture Series will continue on Thursday, September 30, at the Lancaster Community Library, 16 Toiwn centre Drive, Kilmarnock.

“A Focus on Virginia Records and Research,” will be presented by professional genealogist Sharon Hodges from 1-3:30 p.m., with options for in-person or Zoom attendance.

This session will offer information specific to finding genealogical and historical records about Virginia ancestors, especially in the colonial period.

“It is important for researchers to understand the history of where their ancestors lived and the political, legal, social, and even geographical contexts that shaped their experiences and the keeping of records,” said LVHS executive director Karen Hart…
