Lady Devils overcome Royal Tigers challenge

After sweeping Colonial Beach in Northern Neck District play last Tuesday, Lancaster went the distance against regional opponent King & Queen Wednesday to improve to 8-1 overall in varsity volleyball.

The Lady Devils broke a 2-2 tie by edging the Royal Tigers, 15-13, in the fifth-game tie-breaker. Lancaster had won the first game, 25-19, then lost the second, 17-25. The Lady Devils took the third game in extra points, 28-26, then lost the fourth by four, 25-21.

Lizzy Woolard led Lancaster behind the service line with nine aces and had a strong showing at the net with nine kills. Shelby Rose dominated the front line play for LHS with 17 kills and four blocks…
