Blue Devils set the pace in cross country

Mathews won a dual home cross country meet against five other schools on Wednesday, October 13, at Beaverdam Park in Gloucester.

The Blue Devils boys team had all five scorers finish in the front seven for a low 21 points. Lancaster was the runner-up with 60 points, King William was third with 64 and Rappahannock, fourth with 96 points. Northumberland and King Queen had individual competitors but did not score as a team.

Mathews’ Cameron Stearns ran a 16:38 race as the individual medalist and led 54 junior varsity (JV) and varsity runners in the boys race.

Michael Foulkes was third overall and the top….
