Jane Taylor wins precision rifle match

Jane Taylor displays her best target and her first-place blue ribbon.

The Rappahannock Pistol & Rifle Club hosted a precision, center-fire, bench-rest rifle match on Saturday, October 16, at the range near White Stone.

The match consisted of six stages of five shots for each stage from a bench at 100 yards, said Tom Smith. Each five-shot group was measured at its widest point and the diameter of the bullet was subtracted from that measurement to determine the score for that stage. A competitor was allowed one “throw away” stage. The final score was the sum of the competitor’s best five stages.

Jane Taylor won the match with an average score of 0.442 inches with a total score for her best five stages of 2.211 inches. Her fifth stage score….
