In field hockey, Lady Indians beat Highland Springs, fall to New Kent

Northumberland’s varsity field hockey team split in games against New Kent and Highland Springs last week.

On October 18, New Kent beat the Lady Indians, 4-0. Northumberland rebounded for a 4-0 shutout over Highland Springs on October 22.

Against the Trojans, NHS goalie Kiara Morris had 8 saves. Coach Mark Fridenstine praised the play of Jessica Lee, Sara Wilson, Darrah Downing and Hallie Shackleford. 

Northumberland’s win over Highland Springs was the second win for the Indians over the Springers this season. NHS earlier beat the Springers, 6-0.
