Hot Air and Silver Fox claim top overall slots in RRYC Commodore’s Cup Regatta

In light and shifting winds on the Rappahannock River Saturday, October 23, the Rappahannock River Yacht Club (RRYC) held it’s season ending Commodore’s Cup Regatta. 

Fair racing, especially in light and shifting wind conditions depends strongly on the work of the race committee, reported Tom Chapman.

Principal race officer Gary Hooper led a team of Brian and Tami McCauley and Commodore Charles Springett on the signal boat. Ollen Richey and Fred Pevahouse were on the mark boat. They got in the full complement of three races.

With the wind shifting from the northwest in the first race to southwest in the second race and west in the third race, the committee had to constantly adjust the course and….
