Preakness Party

The Rappahannock Community College Educational Foundation will present the Preakness Party from 4-7 p.m. on May 21 at Kennersley on the Coan River, 491 Oyster Road, Lottsburg.

Shrimp dinner

The Morattico Waterfront Museum will serve a drive through shrimp dinner from 2-4 p.m. May 28. The menu will include a pound of steamed shrimp, coleslaw, hush puppies and dessert.

Tickets are $20 each. Tickets must be purchased in advance from museum members, or call Debbie Saunders, 580-0935.

LVHS gala

The Lancaster Virginia Historical Society will host “Relax at the River at Historic Pop Castle” from 3-7 p.m. June 4. Attendees will have an opportunity to explore and enjoy this privately owned property on the Rappahannock River near White Stone.

 Gala tickets are $100 per person. Tickets must be purchased by Saturday, May 21, at www.LancasterVaHistory.org, or 462-7280.

Chicken dinners

Chicken dinners will be available from 5-6:30 p.m. on first Mondays at American Legion Post #117, 39 School Street, Reedville. Meals include fried chicken, mashed potatoes, choice of vegetables, salad, roll, dessert and drink. 

Dinners are $12 for adults and $6 for children ages 12 and younger, at the door.

Comedy

The Lancaster Players will present “Let Him Sleep ‘til It’s Time for His Funeral” at The Playhouse, 361 Chesapeake Drive, White Stone.

Shows are at 8 p.m. June 10, 11, 17, 18, 24 and 25, as well as 3 p.m. June 12 and 19. The theater will open an hour prior to each performance.Tickets are $25. For reservations, visit www.lancasterplayers.org or call 435-3776.

Concert series

Friends of Belle Isle State Park recently announced the 2022 Music by the River schedule. Concerts are held from 6-8 p.m. in the picnic area at Belle Isle State Park, 1632 Belle Isle Road, Lancaster. A $5 parking fee is payable at the park entrance.

The schedule includes Chris Stanley & Jane Cooper on June 11; Faron Hamblin, June 25; Patsy & The Country Classics, July 9; Garden Variety String Band, July 16; RTC Band, August 13; and Southern Grace, August 20.

RFM concert

The Reedville Fishermen’s Museum on June 11 will host Faron Hamblin in concert at Festival Halle, 177 Main Street, Reedville. The concert will be held from 6-9 p.m.

Poker Run

Registration is underway for the Northern Neck Rotary Club’s second Poker Run on the Water July 16. There will be seven checkpoints along the Rappahannock River.
