Christchurch athletes earn all-state honors

Several Christchurch School student athletes earned statewide athletic recognition this spring.

Earning VISAA Division II All-State First Team honors in soccer are Tess Bennett of Washington, D.C.; Taylor Berry, the daughter of Lauren and Jonathan Berry of Saluda; and Cecelia Jablonsky, the daughter of Doug and Karen Jablonsky of White Stone.

The team, coached by Matt Schaefer, finished the regular season ranked #2 in their division, and played Highland School of Warrenton in the VISAA Division II State Championship at Glover Park in Richmond. The Seahorses held the #1-ranked Hawks to a scoreless game and overtime, ultimately losing 3-2 on penalty kicks.
